Background

At first glance the DAD Guide may sound very special but there are many reasons for providing an e-service on baby care to Europe's fathers-to-be - some shall be listed here:

  • No baby care services for fathers-to-be and fathers available
  • Rapidly changing family structures and role models
  • A societal neglect of the fathers role in education of infants
  • Decreasing fertility rates in Europe
  • Increase in female employment rates (even though still low)
  • Difficult maternity leave re-entry for women
  • Legal and economic burdens to a equal share of parenting

All these issues and many more finally built the initiatives for developing a digital baby-care guide customized to men’s needs.
